FINALLY, Lotus has lost one of her upper front teeth. Two years ago she came close to knocking them both out and the trauma looked like it killed the root structure since they turned grey. A year went by and the grey began to fade. They have both been loose for at least six months. Now hopefully the other will soon follow. To celebrate and make dinner fun, we plan on having spaghetti.

The Chariot Awaits
As summer approaches we are readying ourselves with plans for fun and sun. Aila did not like her maiden voyage so Lotus agreed to accompany her. All was good!
Although Lotus has her own bike, I thought we could do more travels with the tandem. Check out her choice in shoes...there's a bit of work to be done.

MAY DAY is LEI DAY in HAWAI'I
May Day in Hawai'i is so beautiful with all the wonderful smelling leis and happiness shared from warm hearts. The children in Kinderhale made their own leis for the festivities. I luckily have a daughter that doesn't want to wear one so she gifted it to me.
Due to early rain showers the May Pole was moved into the classroom.
The older grades performed with their music teacher Ms. Young.
What an attentive audience.
Elijah's class' last year of the May Pole dance.
Their teacher Ms. Pena, to the left, keeping a rhythm for them.

Elijah's Class Play
Each child wrote their own bio.
Elijah starred in three roles: Hermes, Chancellor, Servant.
Each child painted a collar to wear. They all did such a great job with this accessory.
I was able to take some pics of the kids during one of their practice sessions so I could enjoy the night of the play. It also gave me an opportunity to make adjustments to some of the costumes.
GREAT JOB!!!

TEN Years Ago.....
I cannot believe it has been ten years ago...double digits...since Elijah came into our lives. What a game changer! For his birthday he invited five of his buddies over to celebrate with cake, movies, outdoor play, and a sleepover. What a great time and we even got some sleep.
11:30 Sunday morning and all the guests are gone...time for Aila to play.
It's been a hard days night for some.
I never liked the idea of combining birthdays but having them back to back has been quite fun...it's the following days of exhaustion that are the real challenge.
...'til next year........!!!!

PARTY PARTY
It's always a good time for a party! Since Lotus' birthday in February, we had promised her a party to be scheduled sometime prior to Elijah's birthday in May. Time flies and so in the 11th hour of the 11th day of May (day before Elijah's birthday) we threw a great birthday party for Lotus' 6+ birthday.
This cake turned out to be huge with a yummy hidden layer of chocolate marshmallow cream. Yes, I think it did glow in the dark.
Aila received plenty of attention from everyone.
Joe grilling in the background.
Taking a break from the festivities with her 'new nails'.
A few kids getting both a rest break and warming up on the concrete.
Can you tell the 'big' kids had fun too. Elijah plowing over his friend Maia.
The set up!
CAKE TIME!!! Lotus had tears as we all sang to her. Aila ready to dive in with her bowl.
Yes, and there were presents too. She did such a great job, carefully opening each gift and thanking each gift giver.
Beautiful Pacific in the background.
PINATA TIME!!! We made a great pinata 'local style' which provided the whole group with quite a challenge. Joe had to give some cuts to it and we progressed from a foam bat to a big wooden dowel and still they needed assistance getting to the goods.
Anticipation.......
MOSH PIT! There were candies, pencils, toys bought and recycled.
Talk about tired. The party began @ 12:30 and we arrived home @ 6:30....but her nails still look good.
Exhaustion!
